Jenefer Palmer, Founder and President of Osea International, has always had natural healing as a part of her life. In fact, in 1918 her grandmother became the first female chiropractor in the United States. In her early twenties, Jenefer sought out her own natural healing practice, studying various forms of the healing arts, including Polarity Therapy, Acupressure, Shiatsu, and Cranial Osteopathy. Having built a significant private practice, she was invited in 1981 to take the position of Spa Director of the renowned Murrieta Hot Springs, a premiere holistic health spa in Southern California.

Consequently, Jenefer began searching for an all-natural skin care line to compliment the spa services at Murrieta; then-revolutionary treatments such as mineral baths, mud baths, massage and body wraps. Having met with many different skin care companies, she became frustrated with the chemical ingredients found on labels. She wanted completely natural products for the skin, made from botanicals and marine algae. At the time, such a product did not exist.

Osea came from one simple idea: if a company created an effective product and spent all it's resources on only pure, natural ingredients, would anyone notice the difference? After spending 12 years formulating in her own kitchen, between her private practice and motherhood, Jenefer created Osea. The collection was launched at Fred Segal in June 1998 and included cleansers and creams formulated with Red Algae as the first ingredient, along with other varieties of marine algae, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins and essential oils. Additionally, she pioneered a unique botanical preservation system that gave 100% natural moisturizers and creams a three-year shelf life.

Receiving immediate attention, Osea continued to expand the product line and secure key relationships with select retail partners. In June of 1999, Jenefer recruited help in sales and operations from her then 18-year-old daughter Melissa. A sharp business mind, in-depth product knowledge, and natural suave with clients bolstered Melissa's position to Vice-President of the company and principal director of sales. Together, mother and daughter continue to successfully expand the line and the brand, winning critical acclaim from industry and media alike. Most notably, Osea won Best Overall Product at the highly competitive 2001 Extracts Tradeshow in New York City, and the prestigious Fashion Group International's 2002 Rising Star of Beauty Award.
